THE GREAT INDIAN WALK – Series 001
The Great Indian Walk is a sculptural, monochrome meditation on one of the most haunting chapters of modern India-the long walk home undertaken by millions of migrant workers in 2020.
Rendered like statues carved from silence & sorrow, the figures appear faceless yet universally human, carrying their entire lives in cloth bundles. Their draped forms evoke both fragility & resilience as they move in unison across railway tracks and barren roads.
By stripping away identity, the work amplifies their collective grief, endurance & dignity. The Great Indian Walk becomes more than documentation – it is a memorial in motion, honouring a journey etched into the nation’s conscience forever.
